Q: I do a search on the home page by selecting a specific town and I see yellow “pins” with numbers, green “pins” with numbers, and blue “pins”, what does this mean?

A: If a particular town covers a large geographic area and has a lot of listings, the map result will “group” listings together and display a yellow pin. To see the individual properties in that group, either zoom in on the map to that area, or select the search option of “View All” for a list display. The green “pins” with the numbers means that there are multiple listings in that location with the same address (or an incorrectly mapped property that is showing in the center of town). To view these listings, click on the pin, and then click through to a list view of those available listings. The blue “pins” represent a specific property. You can click on the pin for a preview of the listing, and then to the full property display also.

Q: In Detailed Search, Open House, and Sold Property Search how do I select my towns?

A: In the “Towns” field, start typing in the name of the town you wish to search on. It will start to auto-populate town names, and a short list will appear. Select the correct town and then hit “enter”. Your town selection will then appear just below the Town search box.

Q: How can I search multiple towns at once?

A: There are three ways to search multiple towns at once.

1.      The first is to use the “Detailed Search” option as described above. After each town selection hit “enter” and the town will be added to the list.

2.      Another option is to use the map on the home page. You can zoom into the area you wish to search on – this is most effective if the towns border one another.

3.      The third option is to zoom in to the area you wish to search on the map and then click on the “Draw Polygon Search” option that is located near the top of the map. Then startclicking on the map to “draw” your search area. Each time you click a small box will appear. When you make your last click, be sure it is on the very first box you made to “close out” the search area. You know it is successful when the area is shaded.

Q: How do I use the map to do a map-based search for listings?

A: There are two ways to do a map-based search.

1.      The first is to use the “zoom” function to get to the area on the map you wish to search. You will see little “pins” on the map – yellow represents a group of listings in an area, green is for listings in the same location, and blue is for a single listing. It is best to get the zoom so you see only green and blue pins. You can then click on the pin to get a preview of the listing. Click again to close out the preview, or click on the MLS # in the preview of the “More” to go to the full listing detail sheet for that particular listing.

2.      The other option is to use the polygon search. Near the top of the map there is a box that says “Draw Polygon Search”. The most efficient way to use this is to first zoom into the general area you wish to search and then click on this box. Next you will start clicking on the map to “draw” your search area. Each time you click a small box will appear. When you make your last click, be sure it is on the very first box you made to “close out” the search area. You know it is successful when the area is shaded.
